A commission of an original portrait painting can be considered as a gift and also as an investment to be enjoyed by you, your family and friends.
I am available to work on commissions in the UK.
My Approach:
I will vary my approach depending on your needs and I am prepared to be flexible. One of the issues may be the amount of time available for sittings. Although I am prepared to consider painting from photographs it is preferable that there are at least a number of sittings to enable a life study of the head at least. I can work from photographs of the background and clothes, so a mixture of sittings and photographs is possible. As my studio is quite small I prefer to do life sittings in a mutually agreed location with good light and in surroundings which reflect the sitter.
All this can be discussed in a telephone conversation but it may be necessary in some instances to have an initial meeting as well.
Prices:
A commissioned portrait is always priced individually because it will depend on your requirements. So the price will depend upon size, subject, medium, framing and any travel costs. If you are interested please contact me and following a discussion I should be able to give you a price based on your exact requirements.
For guidance only: a small portrait would start at £500 (this would not include frame, travel expenses & VAT). Note I am not currently registered for VAT.
